St. John's Primary School, established in 1928 in Portsmouth, Dominica by Bishop J. Morris CSSR and three Belgian nuns—Mother Michealla, Mother Seraphine, and Mother Agnes—began with 30-40 students. As enrollment grew, Bishop Maurice of Roseau purchased land, leading to the construction of a new building in 1930.
The school expanded in the 1950s and 1960s, adding wings and offering a variety of subjects, including crafts, home economics, and typing. Cultural activities like drama, poetry, and sports flourished.
